Adult Programs Director

Role Description
The Director of Adult Programs is in charge of all adult programming, and our weekly and monthly events. This includes management of the Yoga & Fitness department and recurring instructional classes and clinics facilitated by ARG staff: belay and technique classes, adult private instruction, and group climbing events. Unique monthly and quarterly community events, and seasonal Adult Boulder and Rope Leagues will fall under the direction of this department with the mindset to increase membership retention and generate revenue.
With the goal to foster relationships and reestablish a connection between Alaska Rock Gym with the lower 48 and general climbing community, the APD will spearhead networking opportunities locally as well as the larger scale climbing industry.
The Adult Program Director is someone who can manage multiple moving pieces, thrives in a high volume and fast paced environment, is detail oriented, and has excellent interpersonal skills. They are outgoing and eager to find out what the ARG community wants and have the desire to bring those wants to fruition in a profitable and engaging way.

Job Responsibilities
Events:
– Facilitate monthly community or member events
– Schedule and run seasonal Adult Boulder or Rope Leagues
– Recognize opportunities to bring in brand reps
– Cultivate working relationships with local organizations to increase marketing and event opportunities while serving the community
– Oversee the para-climbing events and make changes necessary to increase attendance and refresh the program
Classes:
– Increase attendance for recurring weekly ARG-led classes
– Identify market trends and develop new classes to meet those needs
– Oversee the Yoga & Fitness Coordinator and be available to assist with class scheduling, development, or staffing changes
– Manage the adult program’s scheduling, development, or staffing changes
– Monitor the yearly schedule for recurring classes and make adjustments as needed or based on attendance
Data Analysis:
– Work closely with the General Manager and the Business Administrator to plan for busy, slow, or weather-impacted months. Be able to develop strategies to be profitable despite seasonal changes
– Plan for and debrief all events by keeping a living document for event details (cost, attendance turnout, collaborations, debrief, event contacts, etc.)
– Analyze the monthly revenue to track P&L for adult programs, membership trends, and termination trends. Work with the General Manager and other department heads to develop new strategies to increase membership retention
Other:
– Work regularly with the Marketing Manager to ensure the adult programs are being marketed to the correct demographic and on multiple platforms. Be ready to supply the MD with content, social media handles, and/or other marketing materials
– Monitor incoming email as it pertains to this role and respond timely and appropriately
– Obtain and/or maintain CWI certification to ensure that Alaska Rock Gym follows the CWA’s industry-recognized standard of practice specific to introducing new climbers to indoor climbing, and general climbing activities
Requirements
– Previous Management or group facilitation experience
– Comfortable using Rock Gym Pro:
- General Data Analysis
- Proficient in RGP Calendar
- Developing one-off and recurring events
- Fulfill the event to streamline successful outcomes
- Track P&L related to job description
- Able to monitor widgets and provide links to the Marketing Manager for website or digital marketing use
- Use current and historical data to monitor membership retention
- Developing one-off and recurring events
– Able to develop new programming based on industry or membership needs
– Willing to work evenings and weekends
– Ability to get creative and seek ideas from outside sources
– Is able to work on a team with other leaders and provide input, support, or feedback as needed
This position is full-time with a starting annual salary range of $50,000 – $60,000 commensurate with experience. Bi-annual reviews are conducted in March and September. To apply, please include your resume, cover letter, and three references.
